Athens City Park: June 26, 2012

There’s a beautiful little lake located within the city limits of Athens, Texas, owned by the city. If it were properly maintained it would be a great recreation resource for the city and its citizens. But, its not; there’s old tires, parts of privacy fencing, bottles, and just a lot of junk in general in […]

Lake Athens: June 22, 2012

went after bass but had little luck; perfect weather; no wind; partly cloudy; got on the water by 5:15 to get started right at daybreak.  An hour of casting my deerhair popper and seaducer netted two small 14-15 inch bass.  So, I put my 3 weight together; added a 5 foot sink tip to my […]

There are some large red-ear, or “government brim,” also. Black bass are abundant and because of its close proximity to the Texas Freshwater Fish museum and […]

Lake Athens: May 27, 2012

My son, Trevor and I left the boatdock a little before 6 AM, hoping the topwater bite would be on at a couple of our favorite spots on the lake.  The weather was just about perfect, partly cloudy, a cool 74 degrees, light southerly wind of about 4 mph.  Everything was good except the bass […]
